Wanderers Coach Mark Mc Dermott 19/08/2008 Dear Member, It is a great honour for me to address you as Wanderers F.C. 1st xv Head Coach indeed it is an honour to be associated with a club steeped in tradition and history like Wanderers and also to be aligned with a club that is both ambitious and progressive in their approach on and off the field. We are all aware of the changing face of club rugby in Ireland over the last decade with the advent of professionalism; however this should not distract you from supporting the player’s coaches and volunteers that represent your club week in week out. They strive every time they represent you and your club to be the best they possibly can be and to put them in a position where they can challenge for silverware. Therefore the responsibility lies with me to enhance and introduce structures into the rugby department that will enable Wanderers F.C. to participate and progress to their full potential. Personally I see it is a huge challenge and for me that is the attraction. If we had all the components that equipped us to be the premier club in domestic competitions and continually were unsuccessful then we would have to question our outcome goals. As this is not the case I quote President Roosevelt “I wish to preach not the doctrine of ignoble ease, but the doctrine of the strenuous life” Finally I look forward to meeting you throughout the season and hope that you will enjoy supporting your club. Yours in Rugby, Mark Mc Dermott. Head Coach. Wanderers F.C. Marks Playing Profile. Mark was educated at Blackrock College. He has played senior Rugby with Blackrock RFC, Lansdowne FC and Shannon RFC.
