]]>
We at Canada Moto Guide have long been advocates of ATGATT (all the gear, all the time). We’ve also heard all the excuses from people who skip protective equipment that range from, “I’m a safe rider, so I don’t need it,” to “it’s too hot,” and “it doesn’t look cool.” That first response is blind naivety since no matter how skilled a rider you are, there can always be some oblivious cager on a…

Review: REV’IT! Trench GTX Jacket https://canadamotoguide.com/2022/08/09/review-revit-trench-gtx-jacket/ https://canadamotoguide.com/2022/08/09/review-revit-trench-gtx-jacket/#comments Tue, 09 Aug 2022 10:15:50 +0000 https://canadamotoguide.com/?p=140101 I love my leather jacket. It’s old and worn in and fits me well, but there’s no ventilation, it weighs a ton, and when it rains, it becomes a soggy mess. So I started searching for yet another jacket that would meet a few crucial criteria.

My riding gear closet is starting to get silly. I’ve got helmets and gloves that I haven’t worn for years but can’t seem to part with, pairs of boots for occasions that never seem to arise, and after paring down the collection a bit, three jackets. I love my leather jacket. It’s old and worn in and fits me well, but there’s no ventilation, it weighs a ton, and when it rains, it becomes a soggy…

Over the past few years, we’ve seen fewer options for sturdy, reliable motorcycle jackets and pants at a mid-range price. From the 1990s through the mid-2010s, there were several brands offering off-the-rack gear that offered basically the same high quality as hand-made stuff, but at a much more modest price. In the past five years or so, that’s changed. There are exceptions for sure…

It’s finally that time of year again: Here in New Brunswick, we just had our first snowfall of the 2021-2022 winter season, which means we’re officially in riding season’s overtime. Or maybe, it’s time to start thinking about putting the bike away until spring … Either way, my thoughts are once again turning to the benefits of heated gear, especially because I’ve been running the new battery…

If you have ever had to leave the bike at home because business attire was required, a company called Brummell LLC is developing a lineup of products that may be of interest to you. They are launching a Kickstarter campaign this month for blazers that are designed specifically with motorcyclists in mind. Granted, you may not be attending many work meetings in person that require a blazer these…

Occasionally I’ll receive a shipment of motorcycle gear to review and it immediately becomes evident that the people who created it have never ridden a motorcycle. That’s not the case when you order something from Olympia. It’s apparent straight away that the initial quality is high, but its value increases the more you use it based on how practical and well-designed it is.

The team here at CMG follow the ATGATT mantra (All the Gear All the Time). Why? Because skin grafts suck, that’s why. I wear my full-face helmet, armoured jacket, gloves and boots every time I ride. Sure, some days it’s simply too hot and humid to sit in traffic with all that gear, so when I need to cross the Greater Toronto Area at rush hour I’ll bow out and take the car instead.

Even riders who only have one motorcycle likely have a selection of head protection to choose from. The more bikes you have, the higher chance of helmets multiplying exponentially. Be it for fashion or function, you wouldn’t grab the same lid for a short cruise to Starbucks as you would pack for a lapping day, would you? Well, versatility is the name of the game for the AGV K6 as it was intended…
